Speak Egyptian Arabic.
Not textbook Arabic.
The dialect 100 million people actually use — every word recorded by an Egyptian voice, every verb conjugated, from your first sentence to fluent.
- 3,261 human recordings
- No text-to-speech, ever
- A free lesson in every level
The Level Path. Your felucca moves as you do.
If you can’t hear it, you can’t say it
Every word in Mashi carries three lines — English, transliteration, and Arabic script — and a recording of an Egyptian actually saying it. Tap a word.
A whole sentence, the way it is actually said:
I want to order iced tea
ana ayiz atlob shay metaleg
أنا عايز أطلب شاي مثلج
Everyone teaches you Arabic nobody speaks
Modern Standard Arabic (Fus-ha) is the Arabic of newspapers, formal speeches, and nearly every Arabic course ever made. It is nobody’s mother tongue. You can study it for two years, land in Cairo, and not understand the taxi driver.
Egyptian Arabic (Ammiya) is what’s actually spoken — in homes, in cafés, in the films and music that made it the dialect the whole Arab world understands.
Mashi teaches Ammiya.
Only Ammiya.
ماشي
Egyptian for “okay / got it / that works” — one of the most-used words in the country, and the first thing you’ll understand in a real conversation.
Proof of substance, not popularity
Every figure on this page is counted from the app’s own database. We would rather show you the syllabus than a badge.
- 359 nouns
- 356 sentences
- 301 adjectives
- 175 verbs
- 109 themed items
175 verbs. 1,400 conjugated forms.
Every one recorded.
Most apps give you the dictionary form and leave you to guess the rest. Mashi teaches every verb across all eight pronouns — and the tense follows your journey up the river, so you meet one properly before the next.
- Ikont ayizكنت عايز
- you (f)konti ayzaكنتي عايزة
- shekanet ayzaكانت عايزة
+ 5 more pronouns, each with its own recording
Sail the Nile, one lesson at a time
No signup to start. You reach a real lesson before anyone asks you for an account.
Pick your felucca
Choose your sail colour and pattern, then a daily goal — Casual, Regular or Serious. Two minutes, then straight into a real lesson as a guest.
Work a lesson
Nouns, verbs, adjectives, sentences, themed sets — each shown as English, transliteration and Arabic, with a tap to hear it. A checkpoint sits halfway through.
Prove it in a quiz
Ten questions at the end of every lesson, in nine different formats — and everything you get wrong is saved for later. Try a real one below.
Race each week
Your boat races the other learners every week. Finish top three and you climb a league — Scarab, Bastet, Sphinx, Obelisk, Pharaoh.
One river. Every lesson a stop on it.
Inside a level, the lessons sit beside a single continuous Nile — and your own felucca is on the water at the stop you have reached. Finish a lesson and the boat moves. Four levels, ten lessons each, with a quiz milestone at the end of every section.

Inside a level the lessons sit beside one continuous Nile. Your felucca is on the water at the stop you have reached, and it moves when you finish a lesson.
Most apps won’t show you their syllabus. Ours is on one page.
Ten questions at the end of every lesson
Nine question formats — this is the standard one. Answer tiles are always Arabic and transliteration, never English, so you are reading the script by the time you have finished Level 1. Have a go:
Choose an answer.
Nine formats, not one
Standard and reverse, listen, build the sentence, match the pairs, arrange the order, fill the gap, picture, and a mid-lesson checkpoint.
Wrong answers come back
Everything you miss is saved to Review Mistakes and resurfaced later, so you drill the words that are actually giving you trouble.
Three levels of check
A checkpoint inside the lesson, a ten-question quiz at the end of it, and a section quiz every three or four lessons.
The parts you only miss once you’re there
Works offline. Audio included.
Lessons, items and their recordings are cached to the device. Progress made offline queues up and syncs when you’re back. Built for the metro, the plane, and a patchy Cairo connection.
Speak & Translate
Type or speak English and get Egyptian Arabic back with transliteration — for the moment you’re standing in a shop and stuck. Free accounts get a daily quota; Pro is unlimited.
Review Mistakes
Every wrong answer is kept and resurfaced, so practice is spent on the words giving you trouble instead of the ones you already know.
A streak that’s a sunrise
Not a flame. XP, not gems or coins. And 25 badges — including Alexandria, Cairo, Giza and Luxor, one for each level you finish.
The Felucca Race
Each week your customised boat races your class — or everyone on your level if you’re solo. Top three promote; small groups never relegate anyone.
A goal that fits your week
Pick Casual, Regular or Serious — 60, 120 or 240 XP a day — and change it whenever your life does.
